Abstract: with the popularization of higher education in modern society, more and more students are able to enter universities for further study. Muslim minority college students are also a part of it. Due to the unique cultural background and national psychology of Muslim minority college students, when they come to the higher education institutions in the East and central China, they have more or less some maladjustments in life, interpersonal, learning, religion and other aspects. The adaptability of Muslim minority college students is related to their enthusiasm for learning and the improvement of education quality, It is related to the unity of all ethnic groups, so it is a very important thing. In order to make Muslim minority college students adapt to the university life in the East and the middle of China, I think it is necessary to carry out a special study on the social adaptability of Muslim minority college students. This paper consists of five parts. The first part mainly introduces the origin and significance of this research, the definition of the basic concepts, and the possible innovations of this paper. The second part mainly introduces the literature review at home and abroad, and the shortcomings of the existing research. The third part expounds the research methods and the theory of cultural adaptation. In the fourth part, through the field investigation and in-depth interview of Muslim minority college students in Nanjing University, the author presents their maladjustment in life, learning, interpersonal and religious aspects, and makes attribution analysis. It is believed that the subjective and objective factors of the students lead to the differences in adaptation. In the fifth part, the corresponding suggestions and countermeasures are put forward.
